WHY DO CHAINS HURT?

love

Freedom becomes a gift when in love,
But when the world watches over,
You are chained.
Wonderful becomes an everyday word in love,
But when the words look at you,
You are detained.
More and more you become YOU in love,
But when the boundaries identify you,
You are unnamed.
Smile becomes a language in love,
But when the tears frown at you,
You are blamed.
Deeper you go within when in love,
But when the world pushes so hard,
You are contained.
Why do chains hurt,
When they do not touch your body,
Why the world cares,
But never loves to accept.
When chains are clamped to the heart,
                                                               Why do feet bleed?
When love is bound to the soul,
                                                            How can chains be freed

BETWEEN THE SHADOWS

Candle-in-the-dark
Between the shadows,
Lies my light,
Any step I take,
Left or right,
Darkness encounters,
Hiding my feet,
Silence enchants,
With soundless beat,
Time goes slow,
Tides go high,
Meanings become low,
“What” becomes “why”,
Flood of questions,
Wave of doubts,
Between the shadows,
Even silence shouts.
Light brings hope,
To live and let go,
Sometimes even the night sky,
Gives a positive glow,
It’s all a game,
Of being in dark or light,
Beyond the layers of illusion,
Lies the truth away from your sight,
Between the shadows,
You become strong and brave,
And in the light,
Rests your grave.

Believe what you feel

On this day, Morrie says that he has an exercise for us to try. We are to stand, facing away from our classmates, and fall backward, relying on another student to catch us. Most of us are uncomfortable with this, and we cannot let go for more than a few inches before stopping ourselves. We laugh in embarrassment.
Finally, one student, a thin, quiet, dark-haired girl whom I notice almost always wears bulky, white fisherman sweaters, crosses her arms over her chest, closes her eyes, leans back, and does not flinch, like one of those Lipton tea commercials where the model splashes into the pool..
For a moment, I am sure she is going to thump on the floor. At the last instant, her assigned partner grabs her head and shoulders and yanks her up harshly.

The little boy

Sally jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. She said: “How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?”
The surgeon said, “I’m sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn’t make it.”

The Tiger's whisker

The Tiger's whisker

An old hermit lived in the Lun Mountains of Korea. Many people sought his advice for he was a font of wisdom and was knowledgeable in the magical arts. One day, a woman came and pleaded with him to help her regain her husband's affection.
"He was so loving and caring before he left for the wars," she explained. "He has returned after three years but now he is cold and aloof."
"War does these things to men," said the hermit.
"They say you can make a potion that can kindle love in the person who consumes it," said the woman.
"I could make such a potion, it is true, but I lack one of the ingredients that go into its making."
"What is this ingredient?" asked the woman.
"It is a tiger's whisker."
The woman left promising to get what he wanted. The very next day she went in search of a tiger and finally saw one on the banks of a river. The tiger snarled when he saw her and she retreated.
She returned to the spot the next day. Again the tiger snarled and again she retreated. But she kept going to the place and gradually the animal got used to her presence and stopped snarling.
She began to bring him food. In course of time the tiger became so friendly that he would come right up to her to take the food.

The two hospital patients

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on holiday.
And every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside.

Reaction vs. Response

solutiontender.blogspot.com
Suddenly, a cockroach flew from somewhere and sat on her. I wondered if this was the cockroach’s response to all the glory that was spoken about it! She started screaming out of fear. With panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started doing jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach. Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group got cranky to what was happening. The lady finally managed to push the cockroach to another lady in the group. Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue. In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter. The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt.

Thinking "Out of the Box"

solutiontender.blogspot.com
Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant's beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant's debt if he could marry the daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal.

Frog in a Milk-Pa

solutiontender.blogspot.com

A frog was hopping around a farmyard, when it decided to investigate the barn. Being somewhat careless, and maybe a little too curious, he ended up falling into a pail half-filled with fresh milk.
As he swam about attempting to reach the top of the pail, he found that the sides of the pail were too high and steep to reach. He tried to stretch his back legs to push off the bottom of the pail but found it too deep. But this frog was determined not to give up, and he continued to struggle.
He kicked and squirmed and kicked and squirmed, until at last, all his churning about in the milk had turned the milk into a big hunk of butter. The butter was now solid enough for him to climb onto and get out of the pail!
The Moral of The Story? "Never Give Up!"

BANK ACCOUNT

imagine there is a bank, which credits your account each morning with Rs 86,400, carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every pence, of course!
Well, everyone has such a bank. Its name is Time.
Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the records of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.

BUILDING BRIDGES

solutiontender.blogspot.com
once upon a time two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into conflict. It was the first serious rift in 40 years of farming side by side, sharing machinery, and trading labor and goods as needed without a hitch.
Then the long collaboration fell apart. It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference, and finally it exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence.

MEANINGLESS GOALS

A farmer had a dog who used to sit by the roadside waiting for vehicles to come around. As

soon as one came he would run down the road, barking and trying to overtake it. One day

a neighbor asked the farmer "Do you think your dog is ever going to catch a car?" The

farmer replied, "That is not what bothers me. What bothers me is what he would do if he

ever caught one." Many people in life behave like that dog who is pursuing meaningless goals.

How to Get Motivated

Whether a person succeeds, fails or leads depends upon this variable. Getting to know the intricacies of your own motivation can have lasting effects. By understanding and acting upon the things that motivate you one begins to understand what it means to live a healthy, happy life. This concept will be explored in the steps below.

  Steps

  1. solutiontender.blogspot.com
    1
Be happy. A great deal of motivation comes from understanding one's state of happiness. However, happiness, like most other oh-so-important concepts in life, is a slippery concept. How would one go about changing how happy they are? Very simply put, happiness and control are causal, meaning that when you take away somebody's control, they are less happy. Logic would thus indicate that by giving yourself some control, you are generally happier, and more motivated to do something. It's the reason there are control freaks in the world, and it's the reason video games have become so popular. Some control-based activities are:

    Making Things Happen

We are all given the tools, but it is up to us what we decide to build and how magnificent it will be.
    Steven Ferrel
Goals are fantastic to have, but many times challenges surface that make it difficult for a goal to mature. Many may never start toward their goal because of doubt in their abilities. Some do not attempt the actions required to make their goals a reality. While others do not allow the right mental conditions to exist for fruition of their dreams.
Those who do not have a strong belief in their abilities, usually have to see it first to believe it can happen. Many things were once invisible and started as a thought, as this article once was. We cannot see our thoughts this does not mean they do not exist. Electricity is invisible - it has no form - but it is very real as anyone who has felt the intense power of electrocution can attest. If you felt extreme pain when someone you deeply care about passed on, you have experienced the power of the invisible. It may manifest itself into tears or expressions of sadness, but it originated from within, that invisible place. What comes from within are the most wonderful and powerful forces of all. Our bodies have certain limitations, but our true inner self, has none. Open your mind to the possibilities of boundless dreams that all begins within you, where our true beauty resides. Until you go beyond the limitations of your form, you will not be able to live your life to its fullest potential and truly experience your dreams.

means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was

      MOTIVATION

      solutiontender.blogspot.com
Motivation is central to creativity, productivity and happiness. Motivation is what causes us to act, and when we act, we create movement, growth and change, we feel involved, masterful and significant, we feel powerful through experiencing how we can change the world, and we create more of what we love in our lives. And all of this gives our lives purpose and happiness.

10 Types of Demotivation And How To Get motivated Again

Here are 10 different types of demotivation and the strategies that will help you to get motivated again:

      1.) You’re demotivated by fear

When you’re afraid, even if you’re entering territory that you’ve chosen to move into, a part of yourself is determined to avoid going forward. Fear slows you down and makes you hesitant and careful, which can be beneficial to you, but sometimes your fears are based on your imagination rather than an accurate assessment of the risks in your reality. If your fear is big enough, even if you’re also excited to go forward, the part of you that wants to keep you safe can successfully prevent you from going forward into territory that’s both desirable and safe.
How to get motivated again: To get motivated, you need to deal with your fear. Start by naming your fears so that they’re out in the open. Remember to say a gentle thank you to your fears – they’re trying to protect you after all. Then question your fears; “Why am I afraid of that happening?” “What are the chances that would really happen?” Some of your fears will slip away now.
Look at the fears that are left. What are these fears telling you about the research you need to do, the gaps you need to fill and the risk management strategies you need to put in place? Honor that wisdom by building it into your plan. Finally, consider breaking the changes you’re wanting to make down into smaller steps and focus on just the next few small steps – this will calm your fears.

      What’s in a Kiss?

“Kiss me and you will see how important I am,"
      Sylvia Plath wrote.
The erotic kiss (as opposed to the kiss of respect, friendship, courtesy, or parent-child) is recognized in most cultures around the world. The vast majority of adults all over the globe have experienced the awkwardness, excitement, confusion and pleasure of it. But one must admit that on its face the practice of kissing is more than a bit strange. Why would the exchange of saliva and dinner salad remnants be considered a desirable event, a ritual of passion? Given that the erotic kiss is so common, it must play an important role in the dance of human sexuality. But what exactly is that role?

      The Joy Of Meditation

      solutiontender.blogspot.com

      The Benefits Of Meditation

To understand meditation through an experiment, take a camera and take two pictures. Hold your camera still and take the picture.
Now, while shaking your camera take the second picture.
The difference in clarity between the two pictures is the difference in clarity of a life with and without meditation.
If you've ever dreamt of becoming superman as a child, practicing meditation is probably the closest thing possible to experiencing it as an adult. Developing a regular practice leads to the creation of a virtual bulletproof vest for our physical, mental, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual health.
Meditation means different things to different people. There are dozens of types, styles, and schools of thoughts on meditation. There are many methods prescribed like Transcendental Meditation, Vipassana, and Zazen etc., to reach the state of meditation. Our intention in this Life School Message is not to compare different practices. What we'd like to do is to give you a glimpse into what benefits can arise as a result of meditation.

Be the best you can at all times

      Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

Health is a Quality of the Whole Person - Mind, Body, & Spirit

      solutiontender.blogspot.com
In modern Western society, we deeply value good health, yet we have created a society and way of living so out of balance that damage to our long-term health is the inevitable result. We rush around and push our bodies beyond their capacities. We ignore our bodies' messages of pain and fatigue until they turn into more serious medical problems. We seek quick fixes and ways to mask the symptoms so we can keep on going, not losing an ounce of productivity. It seems we have forgotten the wisdom of the ages that good health is not just the absence of disease, but involves healthy lifestyle, healthy mental attitude, and healthy ways of relating to all living beings and nature.

Try This Six Tips On How To Use Charm To Succeed.

      don draper mad men
        Dress to impress.
      1. Dress to impress.
People will judge you by your personal appearance when sizing you up, so it's good to have a sense of style and a reasonably polished exterior. Clean, pressed, fashionable clothes and good grooming will help people know that you care about the impression you make. Pay attention to the little details like well-kept shoes and cleanly manicured nails.
Creep Factor:  Unless you work in couture, over-indulgence in obscure fashion will make people wonder if you can be trusted in a professional environment. Show personal style without looking like you are heading for a night of clubbing (except of course if you're in the clubbing biz.) Overindulgence in flashy, expensive labels for the sake of bragging can also make people feel uncomfortable. Make your outfits company and industry appropriate.
      2. Make eye contact.
Most people don't trust others who can't look someone in the eye. Make an effort whenever someone is communicating with you to make a face-to-face connection. You may be busy in your office or on your computer, but it's easy enough to stop and look up at the person inquiring. You'll make him or her feel important and worthy, which will make you more likable.
Creep Factor: Don't stare. When in conversation take a moment to break the eye contact and blink or look away briefly. Otherwise you'll come off as threatening and weird. Also be careful not to stare at someone from a distance.  They may the feel the vibe and others may notice you, which is sure to be talked about in the lunchroom.
      3. Smile.
A grumpy, dour face does not charm people, except maybe on a bloodhound. Show a pleasant, animated expression when you communicate. People want to work with others who can demonstrate happiness and a love for life.
Creep Factor: Don't over-animate your face or be disingenuous. If you're just not feeling good, either work on finding the joy in the day or keep your communication to a minimum. Fake smiles and exaggerated joy just comes off bizarre and phony.
      4. Shake hands firmly.
People do respond well to physical contact when it is intentional and appropriate. That first handshake will make an impact, so if you are in the US, make it firm and direct. For international travelers, be aware that there are many cultural differences in the handshake and the responsibility is on the traveler not to offend. Occasional physical contact with colleagues — like a quick, light touch on the arm or shoulder — can be ok and sometimes endearing when kept within proper context and limits.
Creep Factor: Too much touching or touching anywhere near sensitive areas will raise issues of confusion, awkwardness and potential sexual harassment concerns. People may not tell you when you cross the line, especially if you are their superior, but if you are paying attention you should sense they are uncomfortable. If unclear on someone's boundaries, err on the side of less physical contact in a work environment.
      5. Be a bit clever.
People love to learn and laugh. So naturally, smart people who can entertain with humor and stories are very popular and can command a crowd. Expand your repertoire of knowledge and anecdotes so you can be interesting.  Pay attention to current events and look for the odd and funny in everyday life. Putting a smile on someone else's face is a gift that will not go unappreciated.
Creep Factor: Leave the crass, mean and profane stories to a non-work environment. Here's a rule of thumb, if you wouldn't see the language or joke printed on your company website, then it probably isn't tasteful enough for your colleagues.
      6. Take a personal interest in others.
People respect others who care enough to show sincere interest in people's lives. Asking someone about his or her interests will make him or her feel important and show you to be selfless and gracious. It will also make them more interested in learning about you.
Creep Factor: Give people their personal space both physically and emotionally. Asking too many intimate questions, stalking their personal pages or digging into their desk or journals is considered invasive and threatening. Use this simple guideline, don't go where you haven't been specifically invited.

      Confidence Is The New Sexy

      sexy young woman legs
That tiny black dress, heels and make-up can make you feel a little more sexy, but the sexiest thing about you doesn't have a color or a shape. You can't touch it, but you sure can feel it ... it's self-confidence.
Being comfortable with who you are is ultimately what's behind this new movement that redefines sexy from appearance to inner strength. It's no longer about what others think of you or trying to live up to a man's or media images of beauty, it's what you think of yourself that makes you sexy. Are you strong enough to be sexy?
      The Strength to Be Confident
Beauty is far beyond skin deep. There are "beautiful" women who think negatively about their appearance, and women who some might say are not as "beautiful," yet they exude confidence and self-acceptance. That inner-strength to believe in who you are, own your body and keep in your mind a positive view of who you are is the strength you have to build to be sexy.
That mental toughness is only built through believing your own hype. If you don't create hype for yourself, you have nothing to believe in but what others think of you. Change that today by coming up with your own self-confident mantra. Tyra Banks touts fierceness; Kimora Lee touts fabulosity; but what do you call that "it factor" that makes you feel confident? Find out, and chase after it, so that you become better at pumping your own self up.
The Strength to Define Your Beauty
Researchers know it. I'm a man and I know it. And you know it too. Women are hard on other women. And even when they're not, the other women may think they are. That all adds up to this self-consciousness about appearance that can take away from your sexy. That's why it's so important that a woman defines what she thinks is "beautiful."
Trying to please others or live up to others' expectations is not sexy. To build strength to define your own beauty, consider your body in your own definition of sexy. Try to forget what your mother, boyfriend, friends or siblings may have told you about what's good, bad or ugly about your body.

9 Characteristics Of Truly Confident People

confidence by the other Martin Taylor via Compfight

      First things first:
Confidence is not bravado, or swagger, or an overt pretense of bravery. Confidence is not some bold or brash air of self-belief directed at others. Confidence is quiet: It’s a natural expression of ability, expertise, and self-regard.

      1. They take a stand not because they think they are always right… but because they are not afraid to be wrong.
Cocky and conceited people tend to take a position and then proclaim, bluster, and totally disregard differing opinions or points of view. They know they’re right — and they want (actually they need) you to know it too.
Their behavior isn’t a sign of confidence, though; it’s the hallmark of an intellectual bully.
Truly confident people don’t mind being proven wrong. They feel finding out what is right is a lot more important than being right. And when they’re wrong, they’re secure enough to back down graciously.
Truly confident people often admit they’re wrong or don’t have all the answers; intellectual bullies never do.
      2. They listen 10 times more than they speak.
Bragging is a mask for insecurity. Truly confident people are quiet and unassuming. They already know what they think; they want to know what you think.
So they ask open-ended questions that give other people the freedom to be thoughtful and introspective: They ask what you do, how you do it, what you like about it, what you learned from it… and what they should do if they find themselves in a similar situation.
Truly confident people realize they know a lot, but they wish they knew more… and they know the only way to learn more is to listen more.
      3. They duck the spotlight so it shines on others.
Perhaps it’s true they did the bulk of the work. Perhaps they really did overcome the major obstacles. Perhaps it’s true they turned a collection of disparate individuals into an incredibly high performance team.
Truly confident people don’t care – at least they don’t show it. (Inside they’re proud, as well they should be.) Truly confident people don’t need the glory; they know what they’ve achieved.
They don’t need the validation of others, because true validation comes from within.
So they stand back and celebrate their accomplishments through others. They stand back and let others shine – a confidence boost that helps those people become truly confident, too.
      4. They freely ask for help.
Many people feel asking for help is a sign of weakness; implicit in the request is a lack of knowledge, skill, or experience.
Confident people are secure enough to admit a weakness. So they often ask others for help, not only because they are secure enough to admit they need help but also because they know that when they seek help they pay the person they ask a huge compliment.
Saying, “Can you help me?” shows tremendous respect for that individual’s expertise and judgment. Otherwise you wouldn't ask.
      5. They think, “Why not me?”
Many people feel they have to wait: To be promoted, to be hired, to be selected, to be chosen... like the old Hollywood cliché, to somehow be discovered.
Truly confident people know that access is almost universal. They can connect with almost anyone through social media. (Everyone you know knows someone you should know.) They know they can attract their own funding, create their own products, build their own relationships and networks, choose their own path — they can choose to follow whatever course they wish.
And very quietly, without calling attention to themselves, they go out and do it.
      6. They don't put down other people.
Generally speaking, the people who like to gossip, who like to speak badly of others, do so because they hope by comparison to make themselves look better.
The only comparison a truly confident person makes is to the person she was yesterday — and to the person she hopes to someday become.
      7. They aren’t afraid to look silly…
Running around in your underwear is certainly taking it to extremes… but when you’re truly confident, you don’t mind occasionally being in a situation where you aren't at your best.
(And oddly enough, people tend to respect you more when you do — not less.)
      8. … And they own their mistakes.
Insecurity tends to breed artificiality; confidence breeds sincerity and honesty.
That’s why truly confident people admit their mistakes. They dine out on their screw-ups. They don’t mind serving as a cautionary tale. They don’t mind being a source of laughter — for others and for themselves.
When you’re truly confident, you don’t mind occasionally “looking bad.” You realize that that when you’re genuine and unpretentious, people don’t laugh at you.
      They laugh with you.
      9. They only seek approval from the people who really matter.
You say you have 10,000 Twitter followers? Swell. 20,000 Facebook friends? Cool. A professional and social network of hundreds or even thousands? That’s great.
But that also pales in comparison to earning the trust and respect of the few people in your life that truly matter.
When we earn their trust and respect, no matter where we go or what we try, we do it with true confidence — because we know the people who truly matter the most are truly behind us.
